Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself...
...and the world.

The amends project is a free, anonymous online community offering participants the opportunity to heal pain from their pasts, share the powerful impact of forgiveness with others and ultimately affect change on the planet.

"When one person forgives, the world moves a step closer to peace."

Do you remember how easy it was to "make up" with your friends as a child?  Children know the wisdom of making amends -- of leaving the past behind them and being fully present to enjoy the moment.

People tend to "unlearn" the skill of forgiveness as they grow older, taking on unhealthy habits like resentment, blame, and shame.  We keep these emotions alive by re-living past experiences in our minds.  With each "re-telling" of these emotion-filled narratives, we develop a series of fixed ideas which reinforce our bad feelings.  We then find ourselves caught in a vicious cycle -- the more reasons we construct to justify our anger, the worse we feel and the worse we feel, the more rationalizations we must develop.  We can go on like this for our whole lives.

What does living in this vicious cycle of justified resentment, blame and shame cost us?  Our vitality.  Our serenity.  And maybe even our humanity.

You, too, once knew how to let the past go and forgive.  You can re-learn this simple skill and allow it to free you up to enjoy your life NOW, completely.

Don't put off your freedom another minute.

Forgiveness is a process.  It begins with the willingness to let go of the resentment -- releasing the old ideas about a relationship, a person, or unfulfilled expectations you had about a situation or experience.

Whatever you are releasing, Willingness is the first step in being able to authentically forgive.  True forgiveness occurs when we choose to trade in the short-term payoff we receive from our judgements, blame, and guilt, for the longer term payoff of freedom, peace of mind, and even joy.

Some components of an authentic forgiveness letter are compassion, personal responsibiility, humility, and grace.
